Bekumzi obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Property Studies from the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2009 and shortly thereafter started as a Lending Analyst at Nedbank Corporate Property Finance in Cape Town in their Key Clients team. While at Nedbank he studied further, obtaining a certificate in Property Finance from the University of Witwatersrand (WITS), which he completed in 2012. In the same year he was promoted to the position of Relationship Manager at Nedbank which is when he took over his own portfolio of clients. After four years at Nedbank, Bekumzi joined the TUHF operations team in the Johannesburg officer as a Portfolio Manager.
